Description
A miniature long chest of black lacquered wood with gold designs of a lotus kamon (family crest) and leaf and tendril design, gilt copper mounts including bail handle at the escutcheon and carrying bar handles at the sides, of a type made for a Hina doll display (Doll’s / Girls festival March 3) representing the type of real furniture that would have made up the trousseau of a young girl from a Samurai family. Japan, late 19th century.
