Description
We are absolutely pleased to present this amazing imperial Japanese cloisonné vase. This cloisonné vase was a present from the Kinjo Emperor to the English Royal Family. It was exhibited at the Echizen City Museum, Fukui, as part of the “Wagaya no Hinhotenroku Exhibition” in October of 1988.

The mastery of the craftsmanship can only truly be appreciated in person. The intricate wire works are simply mind boggling. It consist of silver and gold wires. The gold wires have been gilded with gold using mercury (which evaporates in the process). There are imagery of butterflies, rosters, bats, dragons, and flowers. The wires are bent forming graceful whiplash design arrangements throughout the vase.

It is with great honor that we are able to present this amazing work of imperial art. Copies of Exhibition Brochure will be included as provenance, and proof of authenticity.
